Experience

Volunteer tutor for elementary students 2006-2009. Math/Science Tutor at Santa Ana Centennial Education Center 2014-Current Honors Student at Santa Ana College STEM Student at Santa Ana College I am passionate about tutoring because tutoring acknowledges that students learn in individual and personal ways. Many students can get lost in main stream way of Learning and I feel a good tutor allows the student to use their way of learning to tackle and solve problems. This can be very empowering and help students become life long learners because it tells them they are okay the way they are. The most rewarding moment being a tutor was when students from the Continuing education school I tutored at (Centennial education Center) invited me to their graduation and they introduced me to their parents as being a huge part of their success. Three of the students I tutored even got scholarships to help them go to Santa Ana College.

Hobbies

I am an excellent tutor for three reasons. First, I have experience which allows me to have confidence in my own ability to teach. This confidence is projected onto the students which allows them to build their own confidence. Second I am very enthusiastic which helps me keep the student motivated even when they are having trouble understand a concept. It is important to remain upbeat especially when a student is struggling. Lastly i am very perceptive. A great tutor will allow the student to express themselves throughout the lesson but step in at the appropriate time to help them learn and understand the material. Another way I demonstrate being perceptive is that I can tell when a student is struggling and I need to use another method to help them learn a concept. I really love reading about science and technology. I like to incorporate the things that i teach and let the students know how the things they are learning can be applied to things I have read in science articles or even new technological advances.
