Experience

I understand the learning process from a student's perspective. Learning should be fun and enjoyable, and not a chore! I tutored for the Chemistry Department at my university, and have been a private tutor since high school. There are many ways to learn different subjects, and the key is to incorporate different aspects to make it more understandable for students! I will use this to help my students do well in their classes. Students often candidly discuss their questions about how to get into college, how to prepare for certain careers, etc, and I am more than willing to help! I have been tutoring since 2009 for students between third grade to college level, in my local community in the following subjects: Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology, English and Piano. While at UCI, I tutored on behalf of the Chemistry Department. During this time, I held weekly office hours, where students would ask me questions about concepts they were having problems with as well as the answers to the weekly worksheets I created. For the midterm and final review sessions, I tutored in a large auditorium, with up to 400 students in the audience. During high school, I took various AP classes and tests, including Chemistry and Biology, and scored well. It was a fun and challenging time and it was these courses that helped me decide what I wanted to major in during college. I received straight A's during high school and had guaranteed admission to UC Irvine, UC Davis, and UC Riverside before applying to any schools, and was accepted at UCLA. My purpose in stating this is to show that I know what it takes to be a successful student, though success is not defined by what college you attend, but rather by what you do with the opportunities you have. I would love to help students achieve their academic goals!
